Stay You in 2019

by Kate Rose January 11, 2019

Happy 2019 folks!

Welcome to Earth + City’s blog relaunch!  In its small history, Earth + City has launched and planned to relaunch its blog several times.  We often set high expectations and start to build momentum only to have it fall to the wayside because - let’s be honest - we are a small team where everyone has a hand in everything and by March, we are prepping for another busy outdoor market season.  BUT NOT THIS YEAR! No…. don’t worry… we are still going to be at all your favourite outdoor markets – we just promise to stick to our blog!

So what can you expect?  Our blog will be a compilation of voices from our company and community.  We want to share our stories, our recipes and update you on the exciting new projects we take on along the way.  We want you to get to know us.  We want to share why we do what we do, and why we do it the way we do it. Once a week, we want to let you in on the inside of what’s going on inside Earth + City!

Our second goal for this year is to launch ongoing themes! Over the next year, each few months we will have a different overarching theme. Each theme will influence blog posts (obvi), new products, some special projects and collaborations!

So, to start off the year, let’s present our first theme - STAY YOU!

Yes, you read that correctly! This year, right now, we want to help you, STAY YOU.  No need for crazy drastic resolutions or hard changes in your life, instead we want to encourage you to be  you.  We want to inspire you to be your true authentic self while making meaningful, conscious and sustainable choices that don’t break the bank, your body or your spirit. We believe that just because we are entering a new year doesn’t mean you have to change or reinvent yourself. You should be eager to remain the amazing person you were in 2018 as you move into 2019 but perhaps with an enhanced awareness about how you and your choices impact the world. We say there is no need to change WHO YOU ARE… but we can always improve the ways in which we spend our time and money and interact with others in our communities. Take this 2019 pledge with us – commit to STAYING YOU but doing so with purpose! Get out there this year and support your local small businesses, eat more in tandem with the seasons, and help a hand in your local communities and organisations.

Over the next three months we will writing about some of the ways we are tackling this goal for 2019. We will be launching some exciting new seasonal products, sharing tips on how to prolong the enjoyment of your favourite summer goods into the dead of winter, sharing recipes from our kitchen and others we love and so much more.  You can also expect to see a number of new partner collaborations coming your way.  All in all, it's a great start to a big year for Earth + City and we can't wait for you to be a part of it!

These days there are apps for everything from playing with someone else’s dog to sailing on someone else’s boat. There’s even one for using other people’s toilets!

It’s called Garden Sharing... the idea is to build a sense of community, give people access to green space and create a supply of healthy, local and organic fruits and vegetables.

Get Ready for Spring!
Get Ready for Spring!

At Earth + City we champion seasonal, local food and with the change in season we start to see lots of new produce becoming available at farmers’ markets and grocers. In Ontario, spring means asparagus, rhubarb, fiddleheads and, of course, wild leeks (also known as ramps)!
